Professional Toolkit: Finishing the Build Set

Thursday 20th - Friday 21st November 2014

On the thursday we painted the walls having let the paper dry from the previous day. This was a team effort to get the painting done quickly.

whilst painting the walls we also talked about the flooring and that one pack of laminate floor wasn't enough and was obvious we needed 4 more packs of laminate flooring after measuring out the floor and that we needed some underlay for the flooring, Lucy and Tom went off to homebase to go and get these.

Friday 21st

This following day was about getting the laminate floor down and finishing the set build, before I started helping with the flooring I had shown Tom and Rob the storyboards I redrew which they were both pleased with. we then talked about filming aspects in terms of camera angles/shots.

  End (floor process)
After myself, Tom, Lucy Lauren, Joel, Marco and Ulysses had troubles with laying down the laminate floor, Dowan who has previous DIY experience helped us complete the floor by suggesting hammering the panels in to each other to cover the gaps. it had taken half the day to do the flooring but with eveyones help we managed to get it done quick and efficently even with Chris Pinnocks help he help cut the wood for us when it came to doing the left side of the floor, because the wall was at an angle we misjudged the perspective of the wall so we had to measure the laminate floor and with chris cutting down the measured pieces of wood we managed to get this done quickly by just simply slotting in the cutted out floor pieces into place.

Having the floor finished it was time for finishing touches - arranging the plinths in place managing to get hold of three plinths we only used one for the set, we also put the frames in place, added the chair, TV  and re-arranged the lights to finish off the spotlight - gallery look. We also layed down a green screen sheet across the floor which Anne got hold for us so that this could be easier for Tom to give him an idea where to extend the wall out to in post.

I am really pleased with how this Set has turned out and have enjoyed doing this as this is my first set build I have been apart of and has been a really good joyfull pleasant experience and hope it will be first of many sets.
