This is a very ambitions project and I'm concerned that this is far too much work in 3d to complete in the short time we have for the project. Have you used Lightwave before? Have you got any render examples of your previous work you can show? This Project is based around after effects and I want to see you skills with this rather than an unrelated 3d package. You have left me with so many questions and needing answers very soon. How are you going to show the interiors of the three different trains, what models are you planning to use and if your shooting material what? When? and where?
There were many trains through out history that are iconic, but you haven’t shown exactly what trains or periods you are looking into with this project. Also you haven’t set out what do you want to show from this project. Putting the technical stuff aside what are you trying to say to an audience with this contrast of three different time periods? An audience will already be aware that trains have change over the many years so what’s new about your film? Are trains better or worse now? What do you think the future of trains is? It’s these questions “The concept” that should be the driving force of the project not the technical challenge.
Can I suggest that you try and simplify this project, looking at maybe the styles of the livery and the eras you are interested in? Here is a link to a story using trains, created in after effects with masks to inspire you in a different direction. http://animade.tv/blog/view/sarahs_story
Please develop this project in more depth and give us more details ASAP.
Where is your research and development towards a pitch for Reflections film?
